Headers and Steam Lines

Tenaris provides tubular products with long-term creep resistance.

High temperature steel products

Headers, steam lines and connection pipes are used to collect and transport steam as part of the different equipment used in of coal, oil and gas-fired power plants. As is the case for the other power generation products, there are stringent requirements for strength, corrosion and creep properties as well as for thermal stability during service for these high-temperature steel products.

Steel Grades and Dimensional Range

For these applications Tenaris produces a wide range of hot-rolled seamless pipes in Carbon-Manganese and Chrome-Molybdenum steels with optimized heat treatment conditions to guarantee optimal long-term creep resistance. Headers, steam lines and connection pipes have outer diameters ranging from 31.8 mm to 711 mm, and wall thicknesses from 2.3 mm to 100 mm.

Extensive Testing and characterization activities

Headers, steam lines and connection pipes are characterized in terms of:

  • Microstructure and precipitation
  • Surface quality
  • Mechanical properties
  • Bendability
  • Weldability
  • Creep behavior

Quality Certifications

Tenaris headers, steam lines and connection pipes are designed according to the most stringent quality standards (ASTM A106, ASTM A335, EN10216-2) and manufactured under the certified quality system (ISO 9001). Quality control procedures include statistical process controls, process and product audits as well as traceability systems covering all manufacturers involved.
